The Current Gaming Industry
Is it really the gamers who are "toxic" or is it just massive greedy corporations waging war against their customers? Yongyea sheds some light on the current situation with Electronic Arts. A company now famous for their dreaded DLC's and micro transactions.
Turns out many prefer not to pay constantly for content that should have been included in the initial release. This has started a HUGE backlash from the people, check it out:

We are lucky to have mods, they are essentially free content. This is how it is supposed to be, but companies have resorted to cutting their games into pieces which they sell separately, they implement gambling, and then to further the anger of the gaming community, they disrespect us and blame us for the problems they encounter!
Battlefield V
Also, a huge backlash has grown surrounding Battlefield V. After a disabled female was plastered on the front cover of the game, the players are refusing to buy it.
The reason for this is because the war itself was fought by men! Meanwhile the company is again claiming that their customers are "uneducated" or "sexist" just because they don't accept this force fed idea that women fought in WWII.
This is not only an insult to people who have studied WWII for years, but it is also insulting to those who fought in the very war in question. These people have lost many loved ones in the war, one cannot even begin to imagine the pain that they have endured fighting for their country. Just to have EA rewrite history in their own "Social Justice" way.
The gaming industry is in its infancy, so it is expected for some form of corruption to exist, since there are no regulations or laws in place yet that would limit these companies. This, however is about to change very quickly after the outrage and complaints from thousands upon thousands of players and parents.
The solution is not to fight these companies, but to turn our backs on them. They are already losing sales and it will get much worse for them if they do not listen to their fans.

Alternatives (To be released)
World War 3:
An alternative to Battlefield is World War 3. It was created by an independent studio and they do not intend to rip off their customers like EA & Dice.
I for one, like the tone of the game, it is dark and realistic. Some of the shootouts are truly bone chilling when you are caught in the middle of them.

Cyberpunk 2077:
Also be sure to check out Cyberpunk 2077, it is from another independent team that has incredible talent when it comes to game creation.
It is an open world game like Grand Theft Auto, but it has Role Play Game elements added to it. Such as character creation, upgrading gear and what not. A very interesting project indeed.
